Collapsed Heels - Case Study 1
Whilst I was developing the EFC Heel Support Pads I was called out to this big 18hh riding horse as he was mildly lame. He had collapsed/under-run heels. At first I put shoes with an ordinary wedge pad on, he became more lame, his heels were just getting crushed further by the pads. Luckily I received the first batch of my new EFC Heel Support Pads so was then able to fit him with the Wedge version. In only two days he became sound, after a few shoeings he went into the EFC Flat Pad and eventually back into normal shoes. Note the angles & depth of the heel in the Before (left) & After (right) photos. |

Collapsed Heels - Case Study 2
I was called out to this racehorse by the regular farrier. The horse had typical thoroughbred feet; low weak heels, long toes and a broken-back HPA (Hoof Pastern Axis). I shod him with EFC Heel Support Flat Pads and he greatly improved. He is now back in normal shoes. |

Collapsed Heels - Case Study 3
I was called out to this lame horse by the owner. He had under-run heels. When I took the old shoes off he had felt rim pads riveted on at the heels. On closer inspection the rivets had dug into the heels. Initially I shod him with the EFC Wedge Pads, then after afew shoeings with the EFC Flat Pads and eventually with normal shoes. This horse won a Retired Racehorse showing class whilst he was wearing the pads! |
